Walford prepares students for a world of change and opportunity. With a focus on tailoring bespoke pathways for each student, our curriculum is designed to provide girls and young women with the tools needed to think deeply, challenge their perspectives and to engage purposefully in learning that is contemporary and relevant to the world in which they live. 48% attained an ATAR above 90, placing them in the country’s top 10%.

The Class of 2023 attained 26 subject Merits.

19 VET qualifications

The Class of 2023 attained 19 Vocational Education and Training qualifications.

A grades: 58%

Of the 30 subjects studied in Year 12, 58% percent of all grades were in the A band.

Young Writers Award 1

South Australian Young Writer of the Year for 2022

Year 12 student Sienna took home two prestigious awards in the South Australian English Teachers Association (SAETA) Young Writers Award. Sienna’s impressive writing skills earned her the Elizabeth Butler Memorial Prize, which is an award presented to the winner of the Prose 11/12 category, and the South Australian Young Writer of the Year for 2022. Congratulations!

Tournament of Minds 2

Gold at the Tournament of Minds International Finals

Walford’s Secondary STEM team won a gold medal at the Tournament of Minds International Finals held in Canberra. Cristina, Eliza, Laela, Olivia and Zara performed brilliantly as a team to solve complex problems, and we are so proud of their achievement! In further great Tournament of Minds news, our Secondary Social Sciences and Secondary Language Literature teams both took home Honours at the State Finals.

2022 ICAS Writing Medal Winners

Walford is very proud of Year 5 students Ishleen and Alexandra who are both recipients of a medal in the 2022 ICAS Writing competition. An ICAS medal is awarded to participants who receive the highest score in their state for their year level. This is magnificent news and we congratulate Ishleen and Alexandra on their impressive results.

da Vinci Decathlon 2

3rd Place at the
National da Vinci Decathlon!

3RD PLACE NATIONALLY! Walford’s sensational team of eight students achieved 3rd place overall in the Year 7 National da Vinci Decathlon. Our 3rd place in the National competition follows on from the girls’ recent win in the Year 7 South Australian da Vinci Decathlon. Amazing effort!

National History Challenge

National History Challenge

Walford congratulates Year 11 student Charlotte who was awarded a medal as the 2021 National History Challenge State Winner in the ‘Australian Wartime Experiences’ special category. Great work Charlotte!

Geography State Champion

Congratulations to Walford student, Ioanna, who entered the 2021 Australian Geography Competition and achieved first place for Year 11 in South Australia! What an incredible result!

International Geography Olympiad (iGeo)

Walford Year 12 student Nikki has been named in the team to represent Australia at the 2021 International Geography Olympiad (iGeo). The national team selection follows on from Nikki’s incredible result in the 2020 Australian Geography Competition, where she was the top Year 11 student from SA. Congratulations, Nikki!

SUBS in Schools State Champions

Year 11 students Ioanna, Aerin, Shani and Imke are the SUBS in Schools ROV Professional Class SA State champions for 2020, and they were presented with their medals at a recent Principal’s Assembly. As part of Year 10 Design Technology, they built a ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle), sourced sponsorship and developed a trade display, all while demonstrating their skills, understanding and teamwork. Amazing effort, girls!
